Tuesday night, the California Democratic Party (CDP) published the results of the ADEM elections, listing the delegates who were elected to represent their respective Assembly districts.
A few hours later, the CDP issued different results in some districts; and even yesterday delegates were given new numbers. The blatant lack of transparency and sloppy mismanagement have been two complaints heard often among candidates and voters alike. I am appalled by the bungled disorder that has characterized the ADEM election process from start to finish. In a well managed organization this unprofessional effort, showcasing a glaring lack of planning and widespread evidence of execution errors, would not be tolerated. This is in no way a criticism of the CDP staff, who I am sure worked hard in a poorly managed and challenging environment. Maintaining a fair and transparent electoral process within our Party should always be of the utmost importance.
That said, I would like to personally thank each and every candidate and voter who took part in this election. Our Party is strengthened by those who step forward and contribute their talents, energy and support on behalf of their local communities. It is because of you and thousands of other activists that Democrats all across the state have a voice in the day-to-day activities of the Party. In the days and weeks ahead, many will be focused on the races for CADEM leadership which will determine who will guide our Party through these historically challenging times for our state and our nation.
That is why, now more than ever, we need competent, thoughtful, visionary and experienced leadership in our Party. As your Chair, you can count on me for transparent, inspired leadership with a clear strategic plan and a vision for creating a stronger, more inclusive, better California Democratic Party. I appreciate your support.
