What do I believe? I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege. I believe our state and our country are long overdue to implement a Medicare-for-All, single-payer system (and I will FIGHT for AB1400, CalCare, to provide healthcare to all who call California home). In this economy, those who work the hardest are barely paid a living wage. And where you were born or the color of your skin should not dictate your access to opportunity and a quality public education. As a state, we have a long way to go for all of us to be treated equally.
While the chair of the California Democratic Party does not determine policy, or in fact implement it, the chair is a messenger of our beliefs and a champion of the issues we care about. She also helps to shape leadership policies that determine the level of transparency and inclusivity within the decision-making process of the Party. It’s unfortunate that, under our current leadership, many Party members feel left out and disempowered.
I envision our state Party to be one that engages with our members at all levels, especially our Delegates, because you are the ones who are closest to your communities and your experience is valuable. Sadly the opposition is desperately trying to paint me as a union buster. I am anything but and I wrote about that on my website here: https://www.delaineeastin.com/i_stand_with_unions
I’ve also set up an ‘on the issues’ page on my website so you have a sense of my experience, and where I believe our state and our country need to go to create a more perfect union. Yes, we have a lot of work to do, and I am excited to be a part of that effort. Please take a look at my positions and experience on the issues that matter, and let me know your thoughts: https://www.delaineeastin.com/on_the_issues
